Since you don't mind the Beta Client, how about you try the V7 Beta Client (Thread)?

I stopped folding@home when I got my first bill after running 3 machines 24/7. My bill was freaking outrageous! Then again I've been behind. I hate spending extra money though. I hope no one hates me for it... :/

If you want to contribute, just run a single instance of the Classic Client which uses only 1 CPU. Although your PPD will be less, you're still contributing scientifically valuable information. You can also be a seasonal folder who only folds in the winter to generate heat

ok, might be a noob question, searched around couldn't find right info.
I am folding on the version 7 beta client, GPU and SMP.
I know that u can't get bonus points untill i finished 10 smp WU's.
But atm since i am folding on smp and gpu, would i be better of disabling gpu folding now till i got 10 smp units done? or will i start getting the bonus points after the 10 th SMP wu?
weird question, i know, but i already folded about 17 wu's, so i have no clue wether they are gpu or smp...
Ty for a reply

going by your EOC profile http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...hp?s=&u=566376 i would say you go a few more day of running smp before you get the bonus there will be a big jump in point when you start getting it

But i think i don't do that bad atm, already hit 20k points, woehoe

Just upgraded my 'main' rig to an i5-2500K @4.3GHz (no, I don't plan to OC it higher; don't tempt me =b) and a 560Ti @880MHz.
Since I'm going out of town and won't be able to use it for about a month then why not. =b
Currently using both SMP and GPU3 clients.
Here's hoping it won't blow up while I'm away; knock on wood.

Whelp, seems like I can't let the new system running unattended.
No, it's nothing technical, it's just one of those problems when you share the electricity bill with your spouse. =b
Anyway, I plan on continuing with my laptop which details are to the left (or below, depending on your forum template).
Should I go with normal or small WUs?
I plan to use both SMP and GPU2; the 5650 is being OC'ed to 550MHz.
[edit]
lol, nvm.
Seems like I'll just use the normal client.
Using GPU2 the laptop fan is wailing like a siren, even on 450MHz. xD
And I think I'm just going to use the normal client, since I just remembered SMP WUs are mostly big ones.

Yeah, and I was getting good PPD too; around half a day run and it's 16k+. =/
Since this laptop is really just a dual core with HT, I only run 2 instances.
Though I wonder if there's any benefit in also utilizing the remaining virtual cores?

This Project blurs the lines between UNI and SMP WUs. It can run on a single CPU or on multiple CPUs depending on the Clients configuration.

If those calculations are from V7, then please be aware of the PPD/TPF bug (Ticket #395)
I have read that the PPD is higher than the usual SMP WUs. Not sure if those systems were dedicated or not.

For that project Athlonite mentioned, on my 2500K system the PPD is higher than, say, 7611 or 7200.
With 2500K @4.3GHz, TPF is ~48 secs., PPD...I think it's 20K-ish.
Though I do feel the bonus points (for 7610, 7611 and 7200) are a bit lesser than before.

it should be higher though as they're much smaller WU's at 250000 steps vs say 5000000 steps for normal SMP WU's
NVM back to normal SMP WU's now
