ok, i noticed the past few days some "slow down" issues with my computer (listed in profile), not depending on a specific project, just overall performance lag, even when opening a word document, wich i never had before, checked my system for adware, cleaned cache, temps, defrag was ok...

Still same issue,

when i pause the client, issue resolved.

so atm just running gpu client, cause the smp-client ( even set at only 6 cores) seems to lagg my system.

untill there is a newer version availble, gonna use gpu only

sry guys but i like a clean fast responsive system

(who doesn't)

Yeah, it's usually the GPU client that's usually lagging up the system, not the SMP.
IIRC, this is because GPU cores don't back down easily as SMP cores when other applications are trying to use said resource, since SMP and classic clients are usually have the priority being set as 'idle' on default, unlike the GPU which is 'low'.
Most applications that are using DirectX acceleration for rendering like Direct2D and/or DirectDraw (like browsers these days, or movie playback with DXVA-enabled players) would stutter a bit when the GPU client is running, but would be fine if it's only the SMP client.

CMIIW, though.

I experience no lag with SMP running...but anything that uses the GPU "lags"...probably for the reasons k1net1cs stated. I just disable the clients while I'm using my computer.

The reason of the lag is because the GPU doesn't have a priority system unlike the CPUs. Do note that it has nothing to do with the "low" priority setting stated above.

That "low" and "idle" settings are for the CPU. It assigns low to GPU so that it is constantly feed with data and idle for CPU so that it can use up the free cycles.

In my case, I always pause the GPU Slot when working on my system and unpause it later. My SMP Slot is set to 6 CPUs since I do work which mostly uses 2 CPUs and everything works out fine (assuming that I remember to unpause the GPU Slot).

when i run the gpu client (in version 7) i have no issues whatsoever, when i add smp slot, then it starts to "lag" meaning system being less responsive.

i've setup the smp slot at 6 like pantherx does, but i can't tell why the system lags, i don't c the client suddenly start writing to disk continously or such, so i can't figure it out atm.

Will retry tomorrow, or 1 of the coming days, i wonder why the system does this, it didn't before..

If i find something i let u guys know about it. In the meantime, if any of our fellow folders has a similar issue, please let me know
