Default Need Help with Overclocking Graphics Card - 11-26-2011, 08:34 | posts: 17 | Location: Canada

I would like overclock my graphics card which is Diamond Radeon HD 5670 1GB PCI Express X16, and also here is the current Core & Memory Clock right now:

Core Clock: 850MHZ

Memory Clock: 1050MHZ

So here is the problem when I try to overclock it past the Core & Memory Clock. So using MSI Kombustor APP & using the burn in test for stability. I get artifacts when trying to overclock it unless I leave it at the current Overclock for Core & Memory Clock. So my question is there anything I could try overclock it?

try to oc either gpu or memory first, do not oc two things together. If there is no room to oc, forget about it.

ok thanks I try to overclock the Memory Clock from 1050MHZ to 1150MHZ. It fail got some weird problems. So I will leave it at 1050MHZ for now as well the Core Clock at 850MHZ until I can find a better GPU Cooler.

Getting a cooler is not the first step, it is the last. What are your temps like? You are most likely limited by voltage. If you have a card that you can change the voltage with, first bump that. (Watch the temperature though! anything under 80 should be fine).

If your temps are under 80 and you can't adjust voltage, then you are stuck with what you've got. A cooler will only help reduce temperatures a little if you are still under 80, resulting in only a very slightly higher clock.

Also, I think you want to be bumping the core clock first and see how high you can push that, then adjust the memory clock. And small increments like 5-10mhz not 100.

well according to MSI Afterburner v2.10, I can't change the Core Voltage(mV) because its grey out, the temps are right now 41oC & max it 78oC so far right now.
