Default Latest ATT causes BF3 to crash. - 10-26-2011, 12:03 | posts: 10 | Location: Australia

Took me a couple hours to work this out, as I've never had this problem with ATT in the past, or even with BF3 beta. However, the final release of BF3 will crash if I leave ATT running in the tray.

I'm running the 11.10 Preview 3 drivers on a 6970. I mostly use ATT for the FPS overlay, and at first I thought it might be just the overlay, but it's actually the running program that causes the CTD.

Anyone else with this issue?

Yesterday I have installed BF3 and found that its really crashes when ATT active. At this moment I have no clue whats wrong so I recommend to exit from ATT before starting game

Yes, after fiddling for an hour I also found out that it was ATi Tray Tools that made BF3 crash randomly during the intro sequence of the campaign. Very strange, since I never had any game crash on me because of ATi Tray Tools.

I have tried both the Catalyst 11.9 release drivers and the 11.10 preview 3 drivers. That did not make any difference.

When the game crashes during the intro sequence I get the following entry in my event log:

I will try to find whats wrong. Just give me time

At this moment just add bf3.exe into exception list. You will lost OSD and autooverclocking with it, but at least game will works.

I don't think its the program its self. I noticed when I updated to the latest drivers. I had to reinstall the game then it worked. So if you are having crashing problems that is one solution.

That's uncanny, I can't launch BF3 with RadeonPro running...weird coincidence possibly?

Thanks a lot, it works. I have only tested it with the Catalyst 11.10 WHQL drivers that were recently released.

i tried to uninstall 11.9 and install 11.10 but BF3 crash at logos, and Rage looks horrible with extrange black textures.

So i've to roll back to 11.9 and everything works fine with ATT ^^

Ray, what was the issue? I think the same thing also occurs with Battlefield 2 intro videos...

Nevermind I solved it. It was EAX and Win 7 64-bit issue with BF2 1.5 Patch. Unchecked EAX and all is well!

Thanks Ray, took me 5 days to work this out, never had a problem with ATT before so never suspected it to be the cause.

I thought I had stumbled on to some gem of information with this, only to discover I'm the last to know.

Anyway, I posted about this on the BF3 forums available through the BF3 browser.
