Default SSD or NEW HDD for LAPTOP? - 06-22-2011, 21:19 | posts: 724 | Location: Belgium

WD3000BLFS - 10000RPM - 300GB
SSD - n/a - 256GB or more
or a 1TB 7200RPM hard drive

I use Linux AND windows. So the chances of a dual boot is very likely to happen. I like a big partitioned drive. But I also prefer speed.

SSDs cost a lot specially if I want much space.

I have these choices:
- I buy new sandybridge laptop
- upgrade HDD or SSD
- upgrade i7-720qm to i7-920XM second hand?

If you really need/want a laptop because you're not often at home, then that's an easy choice: get the laptop

Otherwise, get the SSD.

10k RPM drives are so 2009 and make almost no difference, overpriced too. if you want space, just go for a 1TB drive. Sure SSD cost a lot too but you get what you pay for, they're amazing!

What the hell is a Seagate Momentus XT?

Is it worth it? It sounds promising
