Question what to upgrade? - 12-05-2010, 03:42 | posts: 4

Hi I have an old hp computer m7557c and I want to know what can I upgrade that will be helpful for a future build. My guess is a cpu cooler (for AMD3, amd because they tend to be the cheapest/performance ratio cpu's) anyone has a different guess? and/or a recommendaiton for a good cpu builder that's around 40$ (i'm between the Zalman CNPS10X PERFORMA and Scythe SCMG-2100)

Your computer shouldn't be pumping out much heat due to the fact that, well, it's old lol.

I think you should save up money for a new rig. AMD is releasing Bulldozer next year.

No, Bulldozer will not be AM3. It's an AM3+ processor. New motherboards are required for Bulldozer operation.

wait till am3+ is released first. all we know is that its a new socket and can run am3 cpus in it. we have no idea if it has more pins or if its a different mounting configuration. you dont want to buy a cpu cooler and then wait 4 months to find out the motherboard wont work with it.

I doubt you will need to wait until Black Friday for a good deal. Depending on where you are, deals may randomly pop up out of the blue.
