- Community Manager Martin Kerstein posted "A clarification about the "open beta" phrasing that some have been using to refer to our upcoming beta events"

We purposely didn’t use the term “Open Beta”, we mentioned Beta Events.
To some people Open Beta means unlimited access to the game and everybody on the interwebs can play it. This is not what we will do.
We will do Beta Weekend Events. Those of you who played Guild Wars might already be familiar with the concept.
It means that many of you (like the blogpost says) will get a chance to participate in specific Events, but access won’t be unlimited – there will be some kind of selection criteria and the beta period will usually start on a Friday and end on the following Sunday.

So we'll have a chance to participate in beta weekend events, like for Guild Wars 1 back then.

That was one long article, but I'm glad I read it! GW2 is shaping up to innovate all the things that we don't like about MMO's especially the all to common combat methods (tank n spank), no grinding, and no monthly fee! Can't wait!

Guild Wars trilogy is for $19.99(down from $39.99) on Steam. I have never played Guild Wars so is it worth getting it?

Yes, it's a lot of fun and no monthly fees! I thoroughly enjoyed singleplayer on all 3 (original, factions, and nightfall) and playing with friends and doing alliance battles and guild battles never gets old to me. Definitely worth it in my book!

I still occasionally play GW1. Easily the best bang for buck game I have ever played. I've clocked around 1800h on it since it was first released. All with no monthly fees. It is very rare for other games to last me even a tenth of that. I can't wait for GW2. It looks even more epic.

The graphics are a slight improvment from the previous one. Im going to assume its still DX9?

I played the first game and first expansion for a few hundred hours and I will be picking this one up just to mess with every so often.
