I am building a new rig and i wanted some...fine tuning, if you will.
Intel Core i5 750 w/ Thermaltake SpinQ -$238
MSI P55-GD65 LGA1156 w/ G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2gb DDR3 1866-$235
EVGA GTX295 CO-OP Edition(COD-WAW) -$510
Western Digital Caviar Green 1tb -$85
Antec Twelve Hundred 750w -$220
Sony Optiarc DVD-RW drive -$28
Total - $1322.89 after shipping.
With an AMD 965, and the MSI 980a its $1277.80 after shipping
I'm keeping my keyboard, mouse and monitor. I prefer EVGA for the step-up program in case a GT300 does come out soon. sound card is optional, nothing Creative, i will never support that company again. I want to keep it around 1300, 1400 if its worth it.
For $55 more i can get a 9800gtx+ and 4gb Obsidian DDR3 1600 instead of the ripjaws, and the Spin Q.

Your current rig looks fine, why do u need a new one? Is it just 'cuz you got money to burn?
You won't see much a speedup compared to your current rig. The only diff is that GTX295 and upgrading to a 295 is a waste of money as NVIDIA is set to replace it w/ Fermi by earliest would be next month or in January. There's no point in getting a DX10 card anymore.
None of your current decision makes sense for me as it's basically throwing $1000 at something with little to no gain.

I guess i'm looking for something else, haven't had a powerful Intel rig before. i'd be selling my current comp so id be spending like 600-700.
I guess you can say i get bored of things quickly. And i really enjoy building computers.

I still find you're just making up excuses to do a sidegrade ... it's not even really an upgrade except for the GPU, which you can easily do by removing the GTX275 and pop in a new card.
I still highly disapprove of this sidegrade as it makes no sense.
Wait another 6+ months before even thinking of a new rig as there's really nothing you need as a gamer to get something more really that warrants throwing so much money into.

ok, if I can't deter u from your deed that you are about to commit, I'm gonna say the parts look pretty good. Only sticking issue is getting a DX10 card. I'd think it'd be better to wait for Fermi or get a Radeon HD 5xxx series w/ a DX11 card.

Phonem 2 is actually all you need for gaming, there might be game or few which act like Resident Evil 5 and really love fast quads
i5 750 may not bring you double performance, but it's not complete waste (review) if you do more than play games + can sell your current PC and not spend insane amounts of cash.
Got some other cpu cooler btw, Xiggy, Noctua, etc...
Not sure about that gpu, sure it's fast, but if you want to play at 1920*1200 with high-res mod texture packs, then that 896Mb/gpu may not be enough. I would like to have 1gb minimum. If you play at lower resolutions, then should not be problem.

Consider a i7core processor.
Case, coolermaster haf: room, cooling and good price.
Look for hard drive with 16-32 meg buffer. Raptor?, SSD? (load os and a few games here and get a terrabyte drive for all other stuff)
Video card: There is a WORLD of performance difference between 9800 and 295gtx. Compromise is 275gtx for 209 on sale.
