Antec Skeleton

And a Corsair H50

Anyone else have anything similar and just curious as to what folks here think of these? The cooler got a decent Review from Hilbert . But this really seems to be a better way to go than my Thermaltake Soprano and an ASUS Silent Knight II Copper. I like the "case" as it looks cool and offers open airflow. Dust will not be an issue as where my machine is located is relatively free of dust and I have an electric duster and a garage. So really, what do you guys think of this route?

It actually cools very well too. i had one for like 10 months and just recently got an HAF 932 because i have 6 hard drives. as long as you keep it at 2 hd's you will like it. I know you can hang them off the sides but i really don't like doing it.

PS. Pantera for the win

I would only need two HDD's. I use only one that is partitioned right now, but after this possible expenditure, I will go SSD for OS and a quick 1tb or so HDD for storage. I'm still considering how I would mount the radiator and fan. I may have to fashion a bracket that will still allow for sliding the mainboard tray.

Dude, Pantera!!! Hecks-yeah, man!

It's not bad if you want an open system, but me personally I could never spend $150 for that. I could get an open system by putting my mobo on the mobo box.

I knew my CPU cooler would fit originally but after reading that review, I realized there really isn't much to gain by this thing. But thanks guys! Really. I think I'm gonna pass on this idea and look at a different route.

Check out the Test bench on the front page of GURU3D.com, other than that there are several cheaper cooling solutions then both those things. Antec 900 cools very well, and CoolerMaster HAF932 is almost the same, if not a little better. Antec 901,902 are also good alternatives. If you can spend the money though, nothing beats a Lian-Li.

Right on! Thanks, man! You rule totally. I did see the Lab and that is what spurned my affections for an open style case. I think they are pretty cool (asthetics wise, not temp wise). The Lab is awesome but I'd have to use a desk fan to blow air across it. I then saw the Skeleton and it's huge fan to blow air down and it gave my groin a tickle. Especially so if I integrate an H5O cooler for my CPU. But that review made me sway a little. If I add another fan to my Thermaltake Soprano (I have 4 already) it would keep cooler. But I have the penchant for an open style case. Again, dust and animal hair are not an issue for me. Besides the Lab and Skeleton anyone know of any other open style cases besides the wooden top my my repair desk/computer desk?

Well, last weekend, I did get the Skeleton and the Corsair H50. Temps dropped dramatically and as I installed everything into the case, I found I could not identify with the bad reviews of the case. Where the machine is located is a non carpeted, wood floored room dedicated for "computer stuff" (personal use and upgrades, repairs, etc). No animals come into the room and I have an electric duster...This , having this case is no sweat for me. I couldn't be happier. Sorry to bump but I had to follow up. The only issue I have with the case is the plastic used to secure PCi/E cards and such. That, they could have designed a little better. But as long as you don't grab at it, it's still fine.
