Default performance comparison between 6800GO and 8600M GT - 11-03-2009, 11:58 | posts: 33 | User is Offline

I have a laptop fujitsu siemens amilo M3438G with intel proccesor, as it sais at my profile.
Because my graphic card 6800GO got broken i went to a service laptop and they put a new 8600M GT.
What do you guys think...

Is it better than the old one, or is it a good graphic card in general?

My laptop size is large, is it a problem with the new video card being destinated for medium size laptops? the gpu temp is about 70 degree without being stressed...the old 6800GO never went as high as this even if it was stressed..

thank you in advance

In theory, 8600M GT is compatible with the old video card version.
Here I recommend you a article, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS and 8600M GT Introduction and Drivers Download

yes, as i can see the 8600GT its a bit more powerfull..
During some video stability test i didnt got no errors, and i gwess so far so good.

Does anyone know what this memory bus stands for? i diden t find enoughf info on that....

they run very hot, this is with all the 8 series. unless its exceeding 85c, i would not worry at all. maybe put some better thermal paste on it? tighten the heatsink? idk...

Memory bus is the width of the memory bus in bits. If you think of MB/sec of memory bandwidth as an equation you'd work it out by muliplying memory clock by memory bus width. So if you have a 128bit bus at 2mhz (million hertz, or million times per second) then you can transfer 128bits 2 million times per second, or 128*2000000bits/sec, or 256,000,000bits/sec or 256Mbits/sec or (256/8 since there's 8 bits in a byte) 32MB/sec. So as you can see the amount of information transfered between the video memory and GPU is effected by both the memory clock speed and the memory bus width.
