Hi all,
I finally got my rig stable , fighting with the striker II Extreme which didn't stop freezing for no reasons. The ULTIMATE solution for SIIE owners: increase all voltages, only 2 slots used for ram (the white ones), and reduce ram fsb to 1400 !
Will buy 2x2go Corsair ram tonight and move to Vista 64, hope it is worth the extra cost!!
Specs
Thermaltake Boitier Armor+ Black ESA
Windows Vista Ultimate 32bits
Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 @ 4.5ghz (10*450)

thanks folks,
the most important part for me .... it's STABLE !!! Striker 2 extreme is the worst board I ever bought !! bougth the components on end of october and was ready to move to i7 cause nforce 790i ultra sucks really bad ! good thing I found out that getting ram under 1600 would stop the freezes !
anyways thanks for your nice comments !

@Logixfr
Nice looking rig man! You can see that put some time into making it look nice and clean. Great work.
Seeing as how you the nb in your loop I'd really like to see what you could *force* that mobo to do fsb wise, but at the same time since you got your chip stable maybe you should keep it that way. And yeah, I have used asus forever up until a week ago, and their boards definitely have problems with higher speed dimms.. they really need to get on board with it already..

more awesome PC's! nice job everyone.
this is my secondary PC i have built out of spare parts that i have acquired.
spec:
AMD athlon 64 3200+ 2.0Ghz @ 2.25Ghz
*working on getting higher, the bios is not a good overclocker.
i have replaced the stock heatsink with one from a dual core AMD(four copper heat pipes, copper base, with aluminum fins, VS stock full aluminum heatsink)
2GB kingston DDR 400 (4x512)
asus A8v-XE
*motherboard has a heatsink on the northbridge from a broken motherboard.
geforce 6600 256MB(shows as 128MB in windows for some reason...)
300Mhz core / 400Mhz memory @ 420Mhz core / 500Mhz memory
*working on overvolting via bios. GPU has a southbridge heatsink that was taken off a broken motherboard. secured with three wire ties.
not much, but its for gaming on a 17 inch @ 1280x1024. if i ever need a server, or a spare PC for any reason.
mainly just for overclocking fun.

tested it with half life 2, runs quite well on higher settings without AA.(40FPS+FPS)

MM10X, I have the same desk as you. Just bought it today at OfficeMax.
It was a little expensive, but looks absolutely amazing (I still have to assemble it though.. ).
Hopefully that top piece can hold my 24" and my new HP 23" that's coming tomorrow. *crosses fingers*

yeah, i love this sharper image stuff! i got it at office max also. yeah, this peice could probably hold two monitors pretty easily.
a bit difficult to set up by yourself. make sure you install the corner peice before you put in the glass! that is, if you got the whole desk.

I just purchased the main desk as I didn't realize it would be more than $250 for the entire set. :embarrased:

That stock Intel CPU cooler is literally sh*t, it is known to come off the CPU randomly due to the very bad mounting hardware. I would recommend spending ~$30 on a decent CPU cooler. Thermalright, Thermaltake, Zalman, Tuniq, Scythe all make great coolers.

Is that another Intel stock CPU fan on the bottom of your case sucking through that vent? You could get much better air flow with just a standard $10 120mm fan..

LedHed: don't forget Xigmatek or Sunbeam (oddly enough). i'm using the Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer on my Q9450, and love it. at 3Ghz, right now i'm at 45C.... and i don't recall seeing it go much higher.... maybe 50C or so while gaming.
masterchief: never had an issue with the push-pins. and Sunbeam's mounting method rocks. it's basically a mounting frame like you'd find on an AMD system, that's secured to the stock mounting holes with pegs that expand the bottom of the mount... similar to the push-pin method, but not NEARLY as irritating. also holds quite secure.

kinda surprising though how well the stock cooler for the 45nm processors performs. i mean... there's next to nothing to them. i've seen store-bought "italian" bread sliced thicker than the heatsink of the stock cooler for my Q9450.

lol funny thing with intel stock coolers for the extreme cpus your paying 1000$ + for a cpu
and intel only does tiny little segments of the cooler in copper its like wtf

Well the partial copper partial aluminum is actually the preferred setup as copper absorbs heat better than aluminum, but can't disperse the heat nearly as well as aluminum. This is why even the top air coolers usually use a partial copper (normally the base/heat pipes) and partial aluminum design (fins).
My Tuniq Tower 120:

I really wondered during installation if it was ever going to go in and which exhaust fan to point it at. We had no notch the lip of the case to get it in and cut a hole in the back to provide clearance for the backing plate. I still wonder if it would do better aimed at the 200mm exhaust fan instead of the 120mm.

think it'd probably do better aimed towards the 200mm. as they say.... heat rises. lol
masterchief: wouldn't say they only use "a little bit" of copper. I mean... that's one nice sized chunk of copper in the center of the heatsink.... although i think i read somewhere that it's partially hollow, to kinda act as a heatpipe of it's own somehow. not sure if that's the same for the 45nm stock heatsinks, since they're GODAWFUL small... but *shrug*.

Well after 11 hours of Orthos Beta I get to 48C, remember it's also in an Antec 900 so the air movement is massive.

@1.23V the BioStar T-Power i45 really shines in its overclocking potential.
I've had it up to 4.5ghz on air:
