Default ATI Tray Tools won't work (anymore) - 12-14-2008, 09:10 | posts: 12 | Location: Germany

So I thought I'd update my drivers and ATT...
I uninstalled the Tray Tools via a clean uninstaller utility (Revo Uninstaller)
Then the Catalyst 8.10 (without CCC) via Software panel.
Then I booted into Windows Safe Mode and deleted driver remainings with Driver Sweeper.
After that I cleaned the registry with CCleaner.
Then I installed 8.12 (without CCC again) in regular Windows. I rebooted and installed ATT 1.6xxx Beta.
But it won't work! The symbol appears in the tray but if my mouse goes over it, it vanishes! It worked fine before! I reverted then to 8.10 and ATT 1.5xxxx which worked fine but now it won't run either. Man I want my ATT back, I don't like Rivatuner.

Sys specs:

AMD Athlon X2 4000+
ECS Elitegroup 6100SM-M
2GB Aeneon DDR2-667 RAM
ATI Radeon 2900GT (Sapphire)
Excelstore 160GB HDD
Corsair CX400 400W PSU

Be careful with "sucks" comments please, it is insulting to read that.

Well there are no better words if a program causes black screens while monitoring or won't switch 2D / 3D clocks properly. But ok I edited it. Now help would be appreciated.

There are no better words than just opening guru3d home page and looking how many people download and constantly use it with no problems. Probably these 10 millions of users are just stupid? So please use proper wording and always keep in mind that your problems can be easily caused by yourself.

I edited the "sucks comment" to "I don't like Rivatuner". It's not only the crashes it's also the complicated 2D -> 3D clock switch. ATT is really more confortable, so I want to use it. But why am I justifying myself, it's my decision what programs I use... I admit the sucks comment was a bit harsh.

But now help on topic please!

If you were brave enough to say "your work sucks" in face to someone in real life, you won't be able to LOL, boy. Grow up a bit and start working yourself, probably then you'll start respecting work done by others.

There is a special ATI Tray Tools techsupport subforum here. You have much more chances to get your question answered there rather than in general ATI drivers section.

Well last I checked I'm 34 years old and have worked every day since around the time I turned 17 (minus some weekends and days off ).
And trust me I'd have no problem telling someone to their face their work sucked if it was causing as many issues as what this current driver release is.

Sometimes maybe people just need to man up and call it for what it is...which is a train-wreck.

Unwinders software isnt the cause of most problems, my experiance is that most problems are due to the one between the screen and chair. So show some respect to Unwinder, as RivaTuner is totally free and better than most out there. You dont have to like it, just show some respect or be quiet. I for one like both ATT and RT, both are great. I specially like the fact that RT has D3DOverrider (also free) included, which is a great little app also, for Vista specially.

eaa315, you've brought nothing useful to this thread. Unwinder has contributed a huge amount to the overclocking community, and I think it's totally unwarranted that you should waste two of your nine posts on these forums bashing him.

As the OP has now started a thread in the appropriate section, this one is closed.
