In the article it says the test board you reviewed had no sli support but on the box picture it distinctly shows a sli icon?

Where exactly did you read that ? This motherboard, as the review mentions like 10 times, is fully SLI certified.

so this is a budget board buy a bottom line i7 and this board its not that bad

Ugly yellow, orange and red slots. Is there really not a singlevendor that can make slots either only white and black or black and grey? Now they prettymuch all look like they tossed half a bag of M&M's on the mobo...

personally i dont mind the color scheme, god knows why you'd want dull black and grey

but yeah good review hilbert, looks like a cracking board for the price. Only downside is the OC'ing, but still looks good!! very viable option for those who cant or wont spend silly money on those Asus boards (though they are gr8!)

lol i'v seen worse thou,its pretty "cheap" for a 1366 socket board.
but it to early to tell how much the cost of the new chips/socket will really be with mark ups,at least in the states

The real question is: can you overclock the i7 920 to 4 Ghz or are you bound to pre-set limitations?

There are no intentional limitations to the chip. This was pointed out by anandtech. They managed to ge tthe 920 to 3.8ghz, and said they could probably push it further if they really tried.

In fact the Intel reference mainboard does not support SLI mode.

Its about time that someone other than Intel acknowledges the need to move forward.. I think its called evolving =P

Looks to be basically a reference board inspired enhancement, and I like it. No IDE, no Floppy, useful ps2 though not really needed, CF and SLI!, able to support raid5/optical/and still have 1 sata to spare!

Any inside info on when it will be available??

... and thanks G3D for not stating even once that the board had "six dimm slots for triple channel"... that has been popping up all over the net about the x58 boards and I think it will give most newcomers and those only familiar with the DDR2 world the wrong impression.. You in no way need three pairs of memory to get triple channel. QPI is spec'd for triple channel memory access through a single dimm for each channel.. Interestingly enough, Intel's specs suggest that using more than three physical boards will hinder performance, but have seen nothing to date showing that.. it will most likely affect OCn.

On that note G3D.. how about some quick benches on that very topic!..
