I found a surprise in my lappy! -

I've had my Asus M51sn - C1 for about a month and a half and just discovered that I have "Facial Recognition" as well as a fingerprint reader.
Now, I use the Facial Recognition exclusively - and it even works in low light.
I'm wondering how many others are using this great technology!?

FYI; my laptop is very fast. Even with all effects on...sounds like a hint of jealousy to me.
...and I upgraded the HD to a Seagate Momentus 7200RPM and 320GB; also, the CPU upgraded to the T9300. You wouldn't find a faster laptop than this, unless you buy an expensive ROG lappy! I'm also running Vista32 and I guess it is a bit slow - It takes almost a second to open MSWord!
I just ran Aquamark and scored 85,806. Not bad for a "Mainstream Laptop".

Cool find! If I had that, I think I'd use it just for the sheer novelty. But what happens if you grow a beard? Or just wake up uglier than usual? - I seem to get that once in a while

It's a novelty for sure. There's also 100% COOL factor of being able to log on without touching anything. Besides; for anyone who's been paying attention, Biometrics is not the future. The technology is here now and ten years from now, it will be obsolete. Door keys could be replaced right now with 'facial recognition'. It's not that we don't have the technology. It's that the companies are holding back...and of course, we all know that the "Military" gets first dibs on any new technogy - most of which, we will NEVER see. Although, it's nice to see robotics slowly making their way into the homes. I'm thinking of getting one of those IRobot vaccuum cleaners.
BTW: after using the facial recognition a couple of times, I discovered that the distance from the camera is very important. I sit about 2ft away now and it works within a couple of seconds - every time.

I don't know if they all have it. I don't worry much about gaming. I play on my desktop. I know the 9500 will run NFS Carbon and Unreal 3 with no problems.
BTW: this processor that I upgraded to (there's tape over the HS that voids the warranty as soon as you remove that screw - and the tape) is a 2.5; but I discovered that it will OC automatically if it needs the power - up to 2.9. Don't even worry about that 9800m. It will run anything. My Nvidia control panel has presets for hundreds of games - even Crysis!
We've come a long way since DSTN screens, floppies and video...well; with a DSTN screen, it really doesn't matter!
