Midway has released for free Area 51, allowing you to enjoy the PC version of this sci-fi FPS developed by Inevitable Entertainment. Area 51 features the voice talent of David Duchovny as Specialist Ethan Cole of the Hazardous Materials Division, Powers Boothe as Major Bridges, and recording artist Marilyn Manson as Edgar, the gray alien. As Cole, players, will delve into massive levels within the confines of Area 51, discovering a deadly mutagenic side effect of the virus that controls the minds of those infected, as well as an ancient alien colony buried beneath the facility. With a multitude of human and alien weapons, players must explore chilling conspiracies such as the extraterrestrial crash at Roswell and the faked lunar landing, in order to solve the enigma of Area 51 before the viral mutagen is released and irrevocably mutates all life on Earth.

Got this a few days ago, finished in bout 5 hours and didn't see any ads. All I saw was the installer eating up all my ram (all 2 gigs, and wanting more) and only an easy and medium difficulty...
Another 'ad supported' game by the US Military:
Rise & Fall: Civilisations at War

I actually really liked this game. I played through it when it was new, and for those days it wasn't so bad. I guess the graphics are outdated for today's standards? Shame the follow-up sucked ass.

The hardware is excellent, but the drivers still need work. My problems have mostly been related to rolling back to older drivers after I've tested new betas, which is a proper b*tch. But yeah, the card itself is good and the performance is insane in many titles. That 260 can't be old... are you already considering a new one?

Funny thing is... I never got to try it... DOA
As a matter of fact, I'm in battle right now with Post Danmark, cause my package was on a post truck that rolled on to the side and Et voila my card was DOA. Here's the snag : Post Danmark doesn't wan't to refund the full 2500DKR because the card wasn't packed to danish standards and was sent as a Recomended Letter if that makes sense ?
They only wan't to cover up to 1000DKR
Went over their heads in that department as it turns out I work with a guy who's wife has a brother in a high position in Post Danmarks Headquarters.
And there's where I am right now.
Oh and another thing is that my XFX780i is toast : Gives the instant FF error (I know that FF is supposed to be good, but not when it's instant).
Ordered a new from eVGA and same problem : Instant FF on power on.
Have tried a different PSU, Ram and CPU - no good.
The problem came out of nowhere after an update to the latest bios - SIKKE NOGET LORT
Apperantly it has something to do with the reference design of the 2 products
Anyways - looking to buy the Asus P5Q Premium and go ATI 4870x2

Did you buy the card abroad? If not, why not put the blame on the place you bought it from? That's what I always have done when I got something that's been DOA. You do wisely in stepping away from NVIDIA chipsets and going Intel instead. Intel chipsets are the most trouble free chipsets there are. The ASUS P5Q line is very solid choice as well
Edit: I would save some money and get the P5Q Deluxe instead though. If you want to spend that much, you're better off with the Maximus II Formula.

Sadly I bought it from overclockers.co.uk
They were the only ones that had it at the time.
But on top of the gfx thing I have to mess around with 2 faulty mobo's ?!?
I mean this just can't get any worse.
Taking a drive for an hour and a half tomorrow to deliver the eVGA mobo for RMA. Let's hope that goes smoothly, but my luck these days - probably not

Ouch! This is why I never buy hardware outside of Norway. I quite like the safety of Norwegian customer laws, which have my back pretty much no matter what happens. The only thing I ever import is watercooling gear from the US since it's so much cheaper over there, and it's not very likely to be faulty in the first place.

I have a saying : The nothing so bad that it isn't good for something else

It's because of the ad support in the game, you get the same error from Avast if you install the free version of Psi-Ops or The Suffering.
@ Year: damn, didn't realise they'd put Star Force in a free version
Patch v1.2 removes the SF, but then you have to use the SF removal tool to remove the SF drivers.

I had this game on PS2 and it was ace back then. I thought the graphics for PS2 were really good. I might consider downloading...
But much like Far Cry, and Prince Of Persia and other free "ad supported" games they are only available to America.... I live in the UK... Can I download this game and play it?
