Supposedly the E8700, E8800, E8900 series for Intel C2D are delayed till spring instead of being released this Fall. They are 45nm Process as well and 65w. All are still 1333mhz and still the same socket 775 so luckily they will be useable as upgrades for most users. E9000 4.00GHz (4ghz!!!) E8900 3.83GHz E8800 3.66GHz E8700 3.50GHz E8600 3.33GHz (Already Out) E8500 3.13GHz (ALready Out) ........ Source ..... Google I guess if you want to try and find some info
Well after reading alot on CPU vs GPU bottle necks I think I do realy realy need that E9000, but this means a new MOBO as well, It looks like 680i cant do E0.
680i boards kind of got the ball dropped on them when the first 45nm parts came out. After all, Nvidia wants to sell those new 780i/790i boards which otherwise were minor revisions compared to the 680i. If what happened to the X58 becomes standard, I have a strong feeling that this 680i board I have will be the last with an Nvidia chipset.
is the 4 ghz cpu for real? wow been dreaming of thisfor ages, could we o/c near 5? Any indication of price?
Or you could just overclock your E8400 a little more. I never set mine any lower than 4GHz. The speedstep or whatever the hell it's called automatically underclocks it when I'm not using it. I doubt the E9000 could do any more than 4.5GHz on air, a max air OC of 500MHz in my book means don't buy unless the price is great.
Currently, I don't need any faster speed than the 3.6 GHz. All games are just running fine, which is what I'm using my PC for mostly. Besides: I'm on air and get 41C/51C (load/idle). This doesn't mean though that I don't want that E9000! I just hope that it's not going to be too expensive, which it probably will be...
Prices hmm I dont know if they are released as of yet since we have to wait for spring now to find out anyways. But If I can find out I will post them here but regarding the 680i thingers seems I am lucky my board got a few bios updates for the 45nm Chips and etc so Maybe I will be lucky
