Well Will my E8500 @ 4.2 Bottleneck the GTX 280 sli or tri sli? Or would I have to upgrade to QX9650 or Something along those lines? Keep in mind Guru3d did a cpu test and there is no difference in performance between the those Cpu's.

    Heres my current Setup

    E8500 4.2@GHZ Watercooled
Evga 9800gtx SSC Tri Sli Driver 177.41
    Evga 790i Ultra Sli
    Patriot Viper DDR3 @1600
    2x 150GB Raptors In Raid 0
    Nvidia PhysX card

    Vantage Score P17387

Even if it is,how would you get any other processor that can beat a Penryn dual-core clocks. You won't see any advantage in game performance getting a Core 2 quad, specially for the money.
Very nice rig anyway m8,best regards

If it is a bottleneck theres nothing else that you can replace it with that wont be a bottleneck as well.

Hah! That's basically the same question I just posted in another thread.

I'm glad to see that others are of the same opinion.

    Oh, and nice rig, OP.

CPU wont bottleneck on new games because they are so gpu dependent, and older games will fly on current cpu speeds.

Thats what I thought thanks for the replys, but guru3d shows tri sli gtx 280 scales very well for anything over 1900x1200 which is what I have. Also money is not a factor since I will do my setup with EVGA with my three 9800gtx ssc which I paid $369.99 and the GTX is now $499 only.

You can expect around P23000+ with SLI 280GTX.
