System Freeze at Startup -

I hope this is the right place to post this, I can't seem to locate a better spot for it.
I just installed RivaTuner on my PC and I seem to have a problem.
I'm not sure what happened but once I started up RT I went to the customize option for my driver settings. I clicked the box to enable driver-level hardware overclocking and was prompted to reboot so the program could gather the settings for my system. I went ahead and clicked the reboot now option and watched my comp shut down and restart. Only problem is as soon as my desktop comes up my entire system freezes. No response, no beeps, pointer won't move, nothing happens at all.
I'm running on an AMD something... I forget at the moment and don't know how to check via the live linux CD I'm using at the moment to get online.
It's a 1.66Ghz CPU with 512 MB of RAM and I'm using a nVidia GeForce FX 5500 also I'm running WinXP with SP2.
I really would like to adjust my system to enable overclocking so this is quite frustrating.
Any ideas on how I can fix this?
