Default how far can you overclock your 8800gts 512?? - 12-29-2007, 06:17 | posts: 101

I just swapped out my 2900xt for a XFX 8800gts 512. I was wondering how good of an oc everyone was getting so that I know what to expect from this card as far as overclocking is concerned. Post your core, sp, and memory clocks please.

Core=780 and mem=1000 (shader clock is linked to core so I forget what it comes out to). If I push it up to 785 I get yellow dot artifacts in ATITool. Temps don't exceed 72 C full load; fan duty is about 60 % at that temp.

Those are some great numbers. I havent tried past 740 core(sp linked) and 1100 memory. I kind of regret swapping out my 2900xt for this card as the performance difference isnt as big as I expected. I mean its a great card dont get me wrong, my expectations were a bit high I guess. I paid $350 for this card, how much do you guys think I can sell it for? because I think im just going to go crossfire with my 2900xt instead. What do you guys think?

dont bother with the hassles of crossfire, some games just dont benifet from sli/xfire.

I'm running at 780 core and 1050 Memory. I could push it a bit higher if I wanted, just haven't spent much time on it. It gets 49-52C on load.

Firstly, don't rely on synthetic benchmarks. Secondly, crossfire and SLi are utter **** and waste of money.

I'd say sell your 2900.

nice score there diabelica. I oced my card to 760 core/1001 memory. 3dmark06 score 14541.

edit : just reached 800 / 2000 / 1046, 3dmark06 score 14942. I tried 820 / 1056 and 3dmark just locks up, no artifacts or anything. overheating maybe? Dont I suppose to get artifacts before it locks?

I have the 8800gtx watercooled best on gpu daily use is on sig at 710. I guess overall it is still faster than these new 8800gt/gts cards but barely. Dammit just wish they would use this new gpu with a higher bandwidth over 256. Just imagine the new gpu's at these high clocks with a 512bit bus with 1024 memory! Would be one fast mofo.

Here some guy on this forum got 1073 core / 1107 memory / 2682 shader, but its on DI instead of air. It's almost the last post.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...=168694&page=4

His sig says that he has now OCed the core to 1134. I guess he can play Crysis.

Everyone on that forum gets 850/1070/2100 on average on stock air and volt.

Stock is 650/1940 if I remember correctly.

My overclock is in my specs to the left. I get 13,700 in 3DMark06.

my highest was 825 core, 2061 shader with 1125 mem.

ran 3dmark06 fine, but won't play crysis continually stable. scored 15,884 with a 3.55 cpu clock.

I've been running stable now at 800/2250 - though I'll still have to keep an eye out on it. I know 830 Core wasn't working and 2300 memory wasn't. But I Think I still have some room between those values. Temp been around 48-52C under load still.

Utterly diabolical as if you buy a 8800gts to swap from a 2900xt

2900xt is the shiz and in crossfire is even better

as peter kay sais - How dare you

Yeah, theres a difference between having 2 cards and 1, looking at your specs it seems like you have Crossfire so how you can make that judgement I have no idea.

See to the left. Highest stable, but thinking of doing a voltmod to push it to the extremes. The 8800GTS 512mb cooler is sickly, my temps never peak over 55C on full load and idle at 45C!

I call bull**** on the core and shader clock. No way that is stable without any type of modding. Run ATiTool for 15 min. and see how many errors you get. And why did you only push the memory like 28 points up from stock? And a new cooler isn't going to do you anything unless you plan on voltmodding it.
