ATI Radeon Express 1150 Problem

Just bought a brand new Dell Inspiron 1150, and Loaded XP Pro SP2 in place of Vista Home Premium. The problem is that after I loaded the latest ATI Drivers from Dell's own support site, the display flickers and sometimes comes back with a message that states:

"ATI VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands"

Other times the display goes blank and doesnt come back on, but if I power down and turn the laptop back on it works again and the same cycle keeps repeating.

Please help if possible or direct me to who might be able to assist me. Below are the specs on my laptop:
