Hello everyone, this is my first post. I've just finally finished this thread. It's amazing.!
I'm going to build a PC system for my friend and considering to softmod 5900XT to Quadro 3000.
She uses Maya 6.0 for her uni course.
But I will do it during X 'MAS since my friend will fly back to Hong Kong to buy.
I've seen successful softmod on 5900XT from Inno3D, Leadtek Winfast and PNY (and MSI?) .
May I have suggestions for which I should get , please?
I will have my result posted by then
Thanks very much for help

But it's low i think, 40-45 will be ok.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Is there an approach as elegant as the one developed for the newer Quadro FX4000 mod (successful!)?

No, BIOS flashing the GeForce FX 5900 will not make it a Quadro FX 3000.

hey i got a question. i got a pny fx 5900se that came with call of duty. I think its revision 2. But what is the significance of a softmod to QuadroFX 3000? Will i be able to play games faster? Is there a good reason to actually do this mod?

Quadros offer no benefits at all for games. If you don't use Pro 3D animation or CAD software like Max, Maya, Pro Engineer, AutoCad etc., don't even bother with modding.
Quadros are actually slower in games, especially if the game is OpenGL based because Quadro OpenGL drivers are optimized for precision instead of performance.

FX 5900 and 6800 are completely different generations.
With 5900 you are stuck with 45.28 drivers and in case, that you need professional features, they perform still great.
But if you need gaming performance -- why bother with Quadro? Use newer drivers and you're done.
To combine both of the worlds use dual boot, one for games and one for quadro.
If you're lucky (since you have 5900XT) you might try newer drivers patched only with nvstrap antiprotection. There are some step-by-step guides in this forum which can help you.

VSync should be ON in order to avoid viewport flickering.
