Dongle disables refresh rates? Try this

Thanks for replying - I figured most out. When the dongle is powered by the PS2 plug the screen seems ultra low rez - like 480x ... and does not fit on the screen ...(the bottom of the bios scrolls off and is flipped to the top of the screen - almost unreadable when windows starts to load. Not sure if this is because I run dual monitors. I have one vga, and a DVI (for LCD converted via an adapter to VGA) on dial Philips 19" jobs. When unplugging the power everything is fine - and the glasses shutter great. I saw this in a post from someone with i-glasses - and unplugging the power fixes this. I was also under the impression that the dongle only but detects the refresh rates from the vga but passing through limits the refresh rates to 72 at 1280 - 1024. I'm not sure why - the screen switches off when setting higher, when removing it its ok with 75 and 85 again. By the way, it seems XP installs a default "plug and play" monitor with conservative refresh settings i.e. 60. 70. 75 80 only when changing down to 640 etc it doesn't make any other available like 100 144 150. This DOES become available if one can find a specific monitor driver. I simply ran the 'XP driver update wizard' and it searched online for a new monitor driver, found the Philips driver (I suspects its a profile file only, and only uses the profile driver in conjunction) and backed it up for future. When setting lower resolutions all went ok and up to 150 rates at 640x480 became available and works great. Thanks again not many companies provide support these days, and one learns always... hope this is another tip for your arsenal of support. I was not aware the power cable was not needed on new systems - where did you find this information? How are the glasses/dongle powered if they are not plugged into the keyboard power pass-through?
Not sure on the max refresh rate on the dongle - when 3D mode is off it should pass video info so there should be no limitation. We've sold a lot of the glasses and you are the first person to mention the power adapter or the max refresh rate.
You could do a quick search on www.guru3d.com <http://www.guru3d.com> or post a message in the 3D Stereo Goggles forum - it's possible someone else has run across the issue you described and has a solution.

I enabled and viewed the demos correctly.
My system is 2.8 GHz 1 gig 400 DDR Dual ram
with 19" Monitor Philips
Specs as follows:
CRT

SCANNING
• Horizontal scanning 30 - 97 KHz
• Vertical scanning 50 - 160 Hz
Max refresh rate @ 85 Hz


VIDEO
• Video dot rate 250 MHz
When I work in normal / bypass mode I cannot set the system back the usual resolution 1280 x 1024 @ 85 Hz - as it always runs.
This implies that the dongle is a limiting factor - all my hardware runs at this resolution normally.
How can I return to this with everything switched off (without unplugging the lot)? The maximum supported seems 72Hz and is flickering terribly.
The screen switches off when I select over 72Hz is this a limitation of your hardware or must I upgrade something more?
