Post Help setting up port forwarding with NAT - 07-17-2004, 15:39 | posts: 369 | Location: Canada, In a Igloo

Ok here's the deal:

I have a Netscreen 5GT firewall/router and right now it's set up so i have 2 zones (well there are more but these are the main ones), Trust and Untrust. There is no DMZ. Right now NAT is working fine; however I don't know how to setup port forwarding to one of my machines in my house, specifically port 200002 UDP which I need open for a game. The firewall has a DHCP server that fives out IPs on a first come first serv basis from a predifined range, with the exception of the computer which I need the port forwarded too. I've set it up so that this computer allways gets the same IP (so I can do the port forwarding). If anyone here has experience with this firewall plz help

Hehe, I did but the manual doesn't say much and the OS manual is 800 pages long. Anyhow I figgured it out how to do it: use a Maped IP. So it now works perfectly and i'm happy.

OS Manual? Is it Linux based, I just haven't heard of it, that's why I was suggesting the manual.

Also, I wasn't just saying Read the manual to be a fool, it's actually how I got taught all the stuff I know, and still do, whenever I ask for help, I usually get back just www.google.com

And when you are needing an answer quick, then it's not usually the kind of thing you want to hear.

But you will get more satifaction if you find out the problem than if I were to tell you.....that's not to say never ask questions though

Always welcome, glad you got it fixed as well, good work!

Well I know u are right. But Reading the entire manual (which contains the hole fundamental of networking sortof) when all I really wanted was to be able to play the game as fast as possible... well u get the idea. Plus it was really a problem, I just didn't know how to do it hehe. The firewall I have is a netscreen 5GT here's a link to it's features if u are interested. Thanx for replaying.
