Default Stereo 3D Goggles - 07-08-2004, 18:43 | posts: 7,068

I posted this here, since the original 3D goggles section is dead:

I have a pair, but they do not appear to work! Didn't the images suppose to... i dont know how to say this... get out of the monitor or something like that?

Becasue my pair does 2 bad things and 0 good things: 1 messes my eyes, 2 slows down games BIG TIME!!!

the only time it wont mess with your eyes, is if your monitor has 160hz refresh rate, and it will slow games down as its constantly shifting.

i got a pair too, dont use them anymore as they give me headaches.

also you need the propper drivers and have them enabled.. best to read the manual with them.

First this section is not dead, me and Glidefan go here all the time. And yes your games will slow down b/c you are rendering two images seperately. I use them every once in a while on games that I get high FPS, b/c I have a good monitor that gets 140hz at 1024 so that is 70 per eye. Eyestrain is commonly caused by having less than 70hz per eye. For the slowdown run at lower res and you should be able to get higher RR at the same time.

Oh and don't be afraid for aliasing at 800*600. Its not very noticeable when in stereo IMO.

I agree Glidefan, I still perfer most games at 1024 b/c of text sizes and everything, but most games that is not a problem.

Ok, sorry about saying that the section is dead, but no one posts here to often. And like i asked, shouldn't the image "come out" of the monitor? Mine looks the same, and also my crappy Flatron only supports 100mhz max. I have the 56.72 drivers, both video card and goggles, ienabled them, but nothing really happens the image looks the same

With what games? Also when in 100Hz it shouldn't be a real problem unless the image is of high contrast like in a dark room looking outside of a window. Have you gone in the controls and did the medical test? only then will Stereo be enabled. Also, some games don't really like stereo. Like Silent Hill 3. It will work, but it won't do a think. the images will flicker, but the effect is not there simply because the camera won't alter its angle to simulate 2 eyes. Also, in some games the effect won't be much unless you tweak it in the game with the hot keys.

I did the medical test, the games are counter strike and ut2004. I think it is something to do with the 2 options in the control panel: anaglyphical and page flipped, i had page fliped currently selected, was that the problem? I am talking to the past tence coz i got pissed and unistalled the drivers and put the googgles back in their box .

Question: what do you see with the googles activated in whatever game works fo you? Do you see the images comming out of teh monitor? This is my major concern!

You need Page Flip with LCD shutter glasses. And what you see in games, depends on the settings on the drivers. You can make stuff pop out, or make the screen seem like you are watching stuff out of your window. Like your monitor will have a lot of depth. It depends on how you configure. At some game i found it better to let stuff come out a bit, (House of the Dead for instance) and sometimes i prefered the game to go inwards instead of outwards.

post a link of what 3d glasses your using. "i use 3lsa 3d revelators personally"

and you may need to increase the stereo seperation to 25% "thats what i used and that was perfect"

no its not suppost to pop out of the monitor as much as it looks like the monitor is a giant hologram box.

anaglyphical is for the red/blue 3d glasses, that suck in my opinion, but what glasses are you using? "a link to the site would be best"
