maybe something's wrong with your visual c++ redistributables or .NET

just started for no reason one day? it must have started after something else was installed (that or a hard drive error)

how are you reinstalling CCC? with catalyst install manager or something more hardcore?

not sure which redist CCC uses nowadays, but you'd want to install that one, both 32 & 64bit (also not sure if the redist installer is in the extracted folders of the driver installer)

MSI 2.20... is that afterburner or windows installer?

Because Afterburner 2.20 now redistributes atipdlxx.dll and Catalyst dropped that dll since version 12.2, What version of Catalyst is being used?

I had a similar issue with CCC not opening and that was resolved via .net 3.5 and making sure the associated windows services were enabled. This was Windows 7 and had disabled the .net 3.5.1 from Programs and features in the Turn Windows features on or off once I had reselected that and its components and rebooted it was fine.

What Version of Windows are you running? Any SP installed?

Have you checked the application event logs to see if they shed any light and can provide the full error message and any code associated?

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...s-Event-Viewer

Try disabling all startup items and non MS services aside from AMD/ATI from msconfig to make sure no other startup items are conflicting with this.

Are you also an Admin on the account?

Alternativley try the following,

Uninstall via the normal method from add/remove or programs and features and reboot

Delete all ATI and AMD folders in C:\programs files and C:\programs files (x86) and C:\programdata (you will need to show hidden files and folders for this)

Then Click Run or press wthe Windows key and R togeather and then click in the Open box Type installer and then click OK.

This opens the C:\Windows\Installer folder.

On the View menu, click Choose Details. Click to select the Subject check box, type 340 in the Width of selected column (in pixels) box, and then click OK.

Now scroll down to the end of the folders and look in the subject collumn and anything that refers to the CCC, ATI or AMD right click and choose uninstall after this is done restart the PC and try the installation again.

Hope this helps if not provide answers to some of the questions above.

Apologies for any spelling grammar (am busy at work)
