I dont know, is more capacity really needed? seeing as writing to SSD's too much reduces the lifespan, for the moment i seem them as best for read only devices once setup with an OS or whatever. Cant really see them ever taking off for media at least until theyre cheaper than spinny disks( which is a long long way off ), and do you need read speeds of 500Meg+ a second for media?

Yes. I want one for my laptop and one for my netbook. As they can only take one drive it needs to be 256gb or so, and the prices are just a joke for them. Needs to be sub £100.

Unless you're writing hundreds of gigabyte's of data a day....the lifespan of the drive isn't really an issue.

Most people do indeed use them as boot drives. With 120 GB SSDs costing about $120 during many sales these days, I can snatch like an ADATA or OCZ SSD.

So SSD's greatly degrade in speed if you use them for multiple uses such as game installation or video files, and the alternative is to spend a few hundred just to save a few seconds boot time...

Seems crazy to me to even consider one, especially after you factor in the massive SSD failure rates.
