Exclamation Looking for EVGA GTX 580 SC BIOS: 70.10.49.00.86 - 12-31-2011, 22:23 | posts: 7

So, I screwed up. I got a couple of new GTX 580 SCs, flashed the BIOS with the corresponding fan unlock version posted on EVGA's forum (based on 70.10.49.00.83), without backing up my previous BIOS (for the first time ever), and I can't get my PC to load the desktop in anything but VGA mode. As soon as I install any GTX580 drivers, I get a black screen with green artifacts.

As it turns out, there are some newer GTX 580 SC cards out there (haven't found anything more than 2 months old at this point) that appear to have subtly different hardware, or something. All I know is that I've tried every official GTX 580 SC BIOS I an get my hands on at this point, but they all fail in some way.

EVGA support apparently can't supply me with the new BIOS, and their product managers, who are on holiday, won't be back until January 4th.

I've been trying to track down the BIOS since Thursday afternoon, with no luck. Typical sources for BIOS files (techpowerup/mvktech) have come up with no recent BIOS versions at all.

If anyone out there happens to have gotten a new GTX 580 SC for Christmas (or even just recently) there's a really solid chance you have the BIOS I need. If you could spare 5 minutes to dump that BIOS using GPU-Z or nvflash and send it my way, I'd be extremely grateful.

Thanks in advance!

Bah. It was a valiant effort, but didn't do the trick. Thanks for the attempt! Still looking for the .86 BIOS, I'm afraid.

I appreciate the suggestion. Believe it or not, that was one of the first things I tried a couple of days ago. No response from him.
