Lightbulb Canon camcorders full aperture (F1.8) at full telephoto trick - 11-08-2011, 11:39 | posts: 564 | Location: Stevenage

I figured out how to force the aperture to fully open at full telephoto just zoom right out set exposure to manual with aperture at F1.8 then zoom in, if u depress the Photo button half way it will say F2.8 but if you look closely in the lens you can see the iris stays fully open and the bokeh (out of focus points of light etc) stays perfectly round and doesn't turn to hexagons!!
Theirs 1 downside tho and this is why the aperture is restricted at full telephoto, the edges of the image become blurry because the aperture becomes bigger than the lens.

There's still less light coming in, thus the aperture isn't 1.8 anymore.

I'm very sorry for bumping please forgive me.
Anyway I love this little glitch/hack/bug/wotever because I don't like restrictions and discovering this gave me a nerdgasm because it gives that little bit extra aperture over about 90% of the telephoto and I can get circular bokeh's like with an SLR! I hope someone else finds this useful!
