Exclamation Weird problem with ATT start... - 11-17-2010, 11:05 | posts: 37

Hello...
I have a strange problem with ATT, namely ATT randomly won't start on system reboot...
Tray icon is showing ok but in task manager there is no atitray.exe process running and when I indicate ATT icon on tray using mouse cursor icon just disappear...
I don't know what is happening - this happens randomly on my system and I don't know why either...
I'm using newest version of ATT (1.7.9.1519) but with older version i had the same issue... My system is Windows XP Professional SP3 x86...
Please advise!
BTW I found this "trick" in other similar post - this unfortunately does not work:

Hmm. What software also do you have, like antivirus and so on?

- NOD32 Antivirus 2.70.39
- Razer Control Program (it's for my mouse)
- cfosspeed 6.03 beta 1751 ( http://www.cfos.de/beta/ )
- Autoconnect 0.1.2.5 (Polish application for adsl modems, it allow to automatic connect or reconnect with internet - http://shider.pl/AutoConnect/ )
- TNOD 1.4.0 (NOD32 keys searcher - http://tukero.*************/2010/04/t...140-final.html )
- and of course ATI Tray Tools

I don't know is this will be helpful to you but in ATT I made these changes only:

- Set Flip Queue Size to 2
- Enable both optimalizations for Anisotrophic Filtering and Trilinear Filtering in D3D
- Disable VPU Recover in Standard Tweaks
- Enable Multithreading in Advanced Tweaks and set Maximum Working Threads to 2
- Also I disabled Ati Hotkey Poller service in Windows services.msc and then in General Options in ATT I disabled Ati Hotkey Poller too (both options checked)

I would like to take this opportunity to ask about two more things. Which option is correct if I want to enable Multithreading - green square or green "tick"? (sorry for maybe dumb question but I'm little confused with this)

And second question about Enable High Quality AF option in D3D - may I enable this or better don't touch this - what is a performance impact when this option is enabled?

Leave it as is. Multithreading already supported by newest drivers.

As about you problem. I really have no idea what can be wrong, but can you turn off your Antivirus? And test for a few days without it.

Nope I can't turn off my antivirus - I can make exceptions for ATT in my antivirus and we will see if this help...

Making exceptions for ATT in my antivirus does nothing...
I don't know whats going on with ATT - I think it's some kind of bug in ATT...
Perhaps I will return to Catalyst Control Center - I can't afford to such critical errors in ATT!

I have exactly the same issue since i turned on the multi thread setting.
After wich i had blue screen with 3DMark06 caused by ati2dvag...
I disabled mt again tryed many reboots and reinstalls of att. didnt help.
As workaround i switched start mode from registry to autorun folder. Now it seems to run.

EDIT: That helped just once HELP
EDIT2: And no i will not return to CCC as long as i live and ATT still starts manually

ATT 1.7.9.1564
