whats a good standard PCI videocard?

Have a friend that wants a graphics card but his MOBO only has standard PCI slots.What would be his best bet?A old 8500GT?

I only see one 9500 GT on Newegg and its about 100 bucks, you could get the 9400GT for about half of that and the performance should be about the same. Just don't have him expecting to play anything really intense with it.

The 9400GT isn't even close to the 9500GT; based on the few benchmarks I've seen, the 9400GT has routhly half the performance of the 9500GT. And thats the PCI-E version, although I'd assume the 9400GT on PCI would be even weaker...

he snot into heavy gaming but would like something..i dunno i told him to throw out that piece of 5hit and get something new but he dont wonna upgrade lol

You should install Crysis on your computer and add a few enviroment mods and Special maps and play it at MAX

Tell you mate to get the Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2. It's the best upgraders board ever.

Besides, what he wants does not fit with reality. 4CoreDual, some kinda Core2Duo, a stick of RAM and a PCIe card and your laughing.

Then again, he's not a gamer, but wants a graphics card. To Fold@Home? Try an EeePC?
