RivaTuner 2.11 auto fan settings problems (4870)

Hi, I cant seem to get the automatic fan settings working with RivaTuner 2.11, the 8.9 cat drivers, and my Sapphire 4870 HD (512mb). I am running vista x64. The bios version is

VER011.006.000.003.000000

(incidentally, does anyone know if this version has the powerplay bug?).

I followed the guide here - http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.ph...6&postcount=10 - and I could not get either the lookup tables or linear auto fan modes working. The fan just seems to sit on a fixed amount of 30% with the lookup tables, and 35% with the linear mode. Setting the mode to a fixed speed seems to work fine.

Do you need CCC for this to work properly? As I have only installed the drivers and Rivatuner.

I'm not too keen on flashing the bios for this card yet (want to see if they ever come out with an official bios update, and would rather have a software solution to the fan problems.

Reread the guide and search for the error in your actions. The controller is integrated into GPU so the issue cannot be board specific. And no, you don't need CCC for that. As I've just said, the automatic fan controller is located inside the GPU and no additional software needed to get it working.
