Default GeForce Forceware 177.98 XP | Vista - 09-07-2008, 10:47 | posts: 70 | Location: UK

There's a new ForceWare driver available on the web (thanks laptopvideo2go) with revision build 177.98.

This driver is available for both Windows XP 32- and 64-bit versions and Windows Vista in 32-bit. This driver set is commonly distributed on many websites and it is receiving pretty good feedback. Bare in mind this to be considered a beta driver, use it at your own risk. NVIDIA does not officially support them.

This driver has a broad support for many GeForce graphics cards and definitely is the latest build available.

Download @ Guru3D:

ForceWare 177.98 Vista (32-bit)
ForceWare 177.98 XP (64-bit)
ForceWare 177.98 XP (32-bit)
ForceWare 177.98 Vista (64-bit)

Moderator: cleaned this thread a little now that the drivers are hosted at Guru3D as well. Thanks all !

Update: Added vista 64-bit driver as well.

Very nice find!

They are WHQL and the original INFs contain almost all GPUs.

No, please do not give misleading information. That web page says:
"Bare in mind this to be considered a beta driver, use it at your own risk. NVIDIA does not officially support them."

Yes it talks about one driver because you choose one, but it is the same for every one of them. How a non-nVidia released driver supposed to be whql?
Don't forget that you can't get a whql certificate for your driver if you don't have the legal rights. They don't really care if a tweaked driver performs well or not.

So, downloaders, they are NOT whql certified.

Ups, I thought that was the last post because there was an ad below it. But it turned out there is already four pages of posts. Sorry.

You must not have been around here that long (nothing wrong with that). If you had, you would've known that nvidia release or leak WHQL-signed beta drivers all the time. Possibly because getting drivers approved from Microsoft takes quite some time, and if the driver turns out to be polished enough for public release, they want to be able to release it as fast as possible. However, if you use a modified inf-file with a WHQL driver it will not be detected as WHQL anymore because modding the file changes the checksum.

Exactly the same here! Digital vib only could be controlled through Rivatuner.

Nice find.

Assassins Creed seems to run slower than with 177.92... No Benchmark, only impression...

Same problem as with 177.92: Control Panel shows me no installed games on my rig. Anyone else with that problem?

Grrr no Vista x64 driver!!! Why leak out the XP x64 drivers without the Vista x64 drivers? That seems silly considering most ppl use either XP 32-bit, Vista 32-bit or 64-bit. Vista x64 is becoming the most used 64-bit operating system.

Vista 64 is the most used 64-bit OS :/

64-bit XP isn't near as popular, and other than the 64-bit builds of linux you can never ever find decent repos for I don't think there are any other 64-bit mainstream operating systems ^^

Uh yeah, zinger. Need help getting your foot of your mouse, Intellimo? And Firefox is not that far off from being the most popular browser, so even your analogy backfired:

Mac OS X Leopard is 64-bit, so there's quite a substantial number there.

(Not meant to start another lame Windows/Mac flamewar, just adding info to what's already been discused.)
