Refresh your browsers cookies and cache, then flush your DNS.. it's probably just one of those.
Wouldn't hurt to give 'Switzerland' a whirl though.

There were problems with members before on comcast.

Not sure if there was a solution but it does appear to be comcast causing this, for some users.

Tried alternative DNS services? (OpenDNS is an example).

shift+reload on firefox to flush the cache... open Vista's command prompt as admin... then type 'ipconfig /flushdns' ..... must have a space before the /

I'm not sure if the getting some new cookies will do anything.. but it's worth a try if nothing else works. To dump cookies with firefox... open tools - page info - security - view cookies... then remove all guru3d ones you can see, you'll have to log back in after that.

Yeah we had multipe reports from Comcast users about it, yet Comcast can't be talked to or something. They for whatever reason will not look into the issue at hand.

We ruled out that is an issue on our end, we even had another HTTP deamon installed on this server to verify the issue, to no avail.

Pretty much it boils down to using a proxy to get it going through comcast, and complain to Comcast please !!

those who had no problem with Comcast are probably on a different area, central, city and routing too which could make all the difference, sounds as if theres a routing issue affecting some areas hence why some users can and you can't.

i've had this issue a couple of times before but instead of Guru3D it was Xfire and a bbc.co.uk, everything else was fine but those would timeout forever, then i discovered that by logging out in the router and back in (dynamic ip) i'd get assigned a new ip, some ISPs such as mine got 3 different routings, Flagtel, Seabone and Alternet, the IPs on the Flagtel had the problem where u could not open Xfire/BBC for whatever reason, the rest was ok, the problem was fixed a long time ago and never appeared again.

to discover this you need to use a reverse traceroute from a site instead of a normal traceroute from your pc, disconnecting & Reconnecting is time consuming but it might give you an idea how your ISP works and if it got different routings or not.

if you're on a dynamic Ip then log into your router and disconnect, then reconnect in order to get a new IP, then open one of those pages, enter your IP and check the routing, do this 3 times with 3 different ips (log in, out, in out etc), if the last 3 hops change with one of the ips then your ISP assigns different routings to different subnets, so simply use the subnet that works for you until the problem is fixed.

edit: wouldn't this be better in the Networking thread rather than the Pub?

OK, well I can finally comment on this issue. I'm a Comcast user and haven't had problems logging on forums.uru3d.com ever..... until 2 days ago. I didn't think much of it at first since it was the middle of the night. Figured it might be maintenance or my computer acting up for some reason. Then I tried again yesterday before I went to work but it still didn't work. Didn't have time to mess with it either. Just got home from work like 20 minutes ago and it was STILL not working. Then I got to thinking about this thread, that I happened to read the day before this issue started happening. So I'm thinking "Better not be because I'm a Comcast user." Went and installed Tor real quick and BAM the forums pop right up. So I'm yet again thinking "F*CK COMCAST."

I live in Lilburn, GA, which is basically the suburbs of Atlanta for those of you who don't know. So it's not just the OP. Haven't tried anything else yet so I'll probably edit this post in like 5 minutes telling you if anything works. Since redirecting it through Tor works it's gotta be something Comcast is doing, just not sure what it is.

I had same problem when I had Comcast. I asked Mr. Hilbert and he informed me about others with Comcast having same issue. I called their customer support and had them try and they said 'it's fine we can get through from here'. That did me no good though so when they were out for something else I showed the tech guy how I couldn't get to the page and he fixed it. It had something to do with that gateway they use. You need to plug directly into the gateway and remove the router then see if you can connect.
I switched my internet to Wowway, no problems now

As I just said. Redirecting it through Tor makes it work, so it's obvious got nothing to do with router, or my computer.

OK, I'm sorry. I'm just mad that I can't fix this problem. None of the posted potential solutions work. Perhaps some other users can try them and see if it works for them though.

Can someone give me the IP address for forums.guru3d.com? I don't have the ping program so I can't get it myself.

My suggestion to people is the following.

Any tweaks you've applied to your browsers, addons, anything like that need to be disabled, and preferably uninstalled.
If you don't want to do that, you need to try in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera.

Next change your DNS servers on your COMPUTER to the OpenDNS servers.

Code:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
After that has done, quit your browsers etc, and flush your DNS cache.

Code:
Start > Run > cmd

ipconfig /flushdns
After that's finished, try visiting the normal domain name of http://forums.guru3d.com

If that fails, try visiting the IP address instead of the name.

http://85.12.17.139/

If that fails, I need a traceroute from your computer, to that IP address.

Code:
Start > Run > Cmd

tracert 85.12.17.139
PM me your results.

After all of this and you're still having problems, you will need to include your External IP address.

You can find that quickly here.

http://whatsmyip.org/

After I have your external IP address, I can turn logging back on within the server, and I will get you to try it again.

If you're still having issues, let me know and I'll keep trying to track down the problem tomorrow when I wake up.

I may need to contact Comcast myself.

That's what the tech guy told me when I had Comcast. He thought it was funny. Who's laughing now that I switched everything to someone else.
