Ok, time to get involved in some online racing.

I can see two viable options at the moment, rFactor and LFS. If experienced users could comment on each of these titles, pros and cons, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks

cannot comment on lfs as only played the demo, (wasnt impressed).

i use the F1RFT_2008 mod pack on rfactor which looks great, i dont like the servers that allow all the aids its just silly, the car basically drives itself, but otherwise its good.

the other game i play is wtcc race 07, i only drive the f3000 but this is my fav race sim, just wish there were more people racin online.

Yeah ideally I`d prefer to play something where there are no driving aids allowed for anyone. Ideally I`d also prefer a game where you don`t need to mess too much with car setups, but I guess you can`t have a racing sim without that sort of stuff.

If you're looking for good close multiplayer pickup races then LFS is the best choice. You can go online almost anytime and find a great multiplayer race.

rFactor can be good for pickup races but it all depends on what the flavour of the month is in terms of tracks and mods and servers dont allow mid race join so actually getting into a good server can be a pain.

Buy both.

I`m making the bank transfer for LFS today. Payment is a hassle because I have no credit card and I can`t transfer to my Paypal account from international bank accounts. So it needs to be money order.

rFactor seems more convenient because as far as I know it`s distributed via hard copies as well?

rFactor has lots of mods and graphics are decent I think. Also online play is good. Some consider LFS as best sim racing game and both games are best in online play as AI is really stupid in these games.

But biggest problem might be mysterious setup ? If you do not have proper setup times will be slow and with whom will you play online. There are some racing leagues but you need to find guys at your level. Not too experienced and not a noob either.

May be just wait for GTR-evolution which is set to release this year

Right, I'm giving this to myself today as a birthday present. I've been on the fence for a while because the content doesn't really appeal to me (compared to pCARS which has all my favorite tracks bar one, Dijon). I don't really care for graphics tbh, just want to see what this is all about physics and ffb wise. Will give it a bunch of laps after work.
