Default Panning resolutions in Vista! - 02-11-2008, 00:44 | posts: 5

I have a monitor capable of displaying a maximum resolution of 1600x1200, however, I want to set my desktop to 1920x1080. This used to be possible by enabling an option called "enable panning resolutions" or something like that... in XP at least... This would allow the 1920x1080 resolution to be displayed, but all the parts that were not visible on the monitor could be "panned" to using the mouse.

ATI support suggested I check out these forums for "options"... any ideas?
I don't see the option in ATI Tray Tools either...

try setting 'use centered timings' in CCC then forcing the higher resolution, if you are using a DVI connection.

Didn't work... screen went black.

In the XP version of catalyst, there was an option to do this... Can I use ATI Tray Tools to simulate it?

Would love to hear any thoughts on this! Can it be done using a tool other than CCC? Perhaps ATI Tray Tools?

Just a wild guess, but I was in Vista's "Display Settings" recently and saw a (checked) box titled "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" the unchecking of which seems to allow for resolutions higher than those native to the monitor.

Maybe that's it? You can check it out via:

1. right click on desktop and go to "personalize"
2. then "Display Settings"
3. advanced settings
4. the Monitor tab - contains the "hide modes" checkbox

... hope it works
