Default 3DMark06 & AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Scores - 12-09-2007, 17:22 | posts: 59 | Location: Germany, Berlin

Hi to everyone,

I want to know the scores of people who still uses the AMD CPUs.
I have a brand new Leadtek WinFast PX8800 GT TDH and reached 9214 points.

Is that good for my system configuration?

Im not sure how much faster your 8600gt is than my 7900gt. But i think something is really wrong with that score. im getting 5890 in 06 with my my 3800@ 2.56 and my gpu at 620/810

Your card is the problem. Its not a very good card for gaming purposes or benchmarking. Try for an 8800GS at the least. They were just released not too long ago, and supposedly according to XFX they perform the same as a vanilla 8800GTS 640 MB.

The 8800gt isn't overclocked. Do you think a better PSU would give more points in 3dmark06? The 400W Enermax PSU is actually a good one

amd athlon x2 +4200 2.2ghz ( can't OC so will leave it stock )
1GB DDR RAM
8800GT 700/1900

I score 8.2k ;/

When i get 460W From Cooler master , is a dual v rail , 18 amps on each that should be good enough
some say is not good.. but for my system should be good

gonna try to OC video card 800/2100. if temp doesn't past 70c and no problems i will leave it like that which i can score 9k or close to 10k? maybe i could hit 10k?
i wanna score 10k , really!

Try the following:

Multi: 11
FSB: 230 (leave the DDR-RAM @ DDR400)
HT: 4 (800MHZ)

PS. Overclocking doesn't realy pushing the score in 3dmark06. In my case I jumped from 9200 to 9350 after overclocking the card @ 700/1650/1900

thats weird, shouldn't your 3870 be scoring higher than your 2900pro?

I get about 10500 I think with my setup and card at 850/1296. I'll have to run 3dmark06 to verify.

Hello everyone, I built my computer about 8 months ago off Newegg. The run down:
- ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Brisbane 1.9GHz Socket AM2 Dual-Core Processor
- GeIL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
- MASSCOOL PS-PSU460 ATX12V / EPS12V 460W Power Supply
- GIGABYTE GH-PDU21-MF Ball CPU Cooler
- BFG Tech BFGR79256GSOCE GeForce 7900GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card (clocked to 561/1494 w/ rivatuner)
- COOLER MASTER Centurion 534
- Added cooling and air flow, CPU stays cool~45c at 80%load and the graphics card with the fan at full runs ~57c at full load.
- 1 WD 80gig HD

I hope to look into over clocking the CPU and Ram but I will post that up in the over clock section.

No, it's not weird. The 2900 is a bit faster than the 3870.
2900-> 512bit bus
3870-> 256bit bus

Tomorrow, I'll break 10k. Got the Zalman GPU and Memory heatsink combo, and a new Scythe HS coming tomorrow. . . along with 3 120mm 133cfm fans. So far, I can't get my CPU over 2.76, due to temp/voltage holding it back. The new heatsink should rectify that. Aside from that, my 8800GTS 640 is clocked at 700/1725/2050, so the new stuff is just to keep it cooler. Probably won't go beyond that. It's the CPU holdin' me back anyway.

With my 7800GS, I hit 5072 in 3DMark06. That was with the voltmod and GPU over 700mhz.

Edit. See, told ya. :-D

Well I just tried some overclocking and it went well I think. In Bios I used the auto over clock on the CPU and over clocked 10%, then I found a setting to up my voltage to my PCI E X16 slot from 1.5 to 1.55volts, this allowed me to clock the GPU core to 561 and the ram to 783x2 (1.566) Temps are still good on the card, ~57deg at full load. I tried some Mark 03 and Mark 06 again with a good increase on both.

Mark 03 was 17329 up to 17,884
http://service.futuremark.com/orb/re...jectId=5687707

Mark 06 was 4752 up to 4,911
http://service.futuremark.com/orb/re...jectId=4670892

I tried a little higher on the ram but ended up with some red spots at the end of mark 06 so I will lower both core and ram clocks a little. Now I just need to figure out if I can get a higher over clock on the CPU setting everything manualy: multipier, Vcore, Mz, Ram timing etc.

System specs:
asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Bios 1302
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core 3600+ clocked to 2090 MHz
Geil DDR2 PC6400 800Mz stock timiing and volts
Windows 2000
the rest is the same in off my first post in this thread.

Any ideas on what to try for over clocking more, stress testing, hardware moniter, thanks

~John

Bit surprising to see you are using Windows 2000 with that rig, nice benchmark scores btw, lol I used to use Windows 2000 up until only a few months ago myself.
