Arrow Yes the razer barracuda vista drivers are out, but... - 07-24-2007, 17:47 | posts: 2 | Location: Denver, CO

I've been having problems with the optical out functions of the razer barracuda under vista. I'm beta testing the server platform for lack of a better operating system for that console, it's longhorn build 6001. I may be going back to xp in the near future, however...

I have a fostex FD-4 multitracker that I was really hoping I could connect from the computer to the multitracker. (it saves me two input tracks that I can use for other instruments) However the razer barracuda ac-1 with the 2.10b vista drivers installed for some reason will not communicate to the fostex on a sample rate of 44.1khz. the fostex really only understands 44.1khz for mastering audio. The trouble is, that the control panel (razer config) seems to show that the system will support 44.1khz digital audio, but the vista playback device for spdif out does not allow that format.

I was wondering about this because why even have a barracuda config program if the functions that it configures don't even apply under vista? Wouldnt it be simpler to just have a few functions like the (really dejected) ac3 channel booster (for 3d gaming), and maybe the decoder setup on that program? what gives if I can't set the windows settings from the razer config?

I just dont have the resources to buy another sound card right now, and I kinda regret buying the barracuda ac-1 but it is a nice sound card that understands a lot of languages even if it's been modified to amplify some of the ac3 channels for playing tricks with your ears in games. So I was wondering if anyone had better luck with a 44.1khz digital audio decoder running under vista or if this is a driver issue?

I'd heard about the x-meridian drivers that may work, I may try those to see if it allows me to use the digital out functions of the razer. Any help for my nerve center would be appreciated.

Do the drivers work in regular vista? It could be due to using the beta server version.

They work in Regular vista because I using them now. Also I already made a thread about the new drivers. Might be on the next page or so.

I not having any of the problems you having then again I using Regluar Vista. the only thing that dont work is the 3d Test in the control panel.

Yea it let you select it in regular Vista. so it has to be the server vista that your using. Because I can go in the windows control panel , and sound and then change the digital there to 96khz. So yea it has to be your vista server os.

Well, no. The OS and the driver package will run at 96khz, but the decoder, a multitracker, will only accept 44.1khz sample rates. If you could look and see if the 44.1khz sample rate is available as a default format for shared mode?

In the Digital uot properties in supported formats I have both 48khz and 96khz. 96khz works for me i tested it. even 48.0 does. But I have 48khz uncheck. so it will use 96khz by default. that my Z5500 support in digital.

But yea I do have both 48.0 and 96khz listed and i know they work for me. It might be your receiver.
