Curretly my 8800gtx is giving me around 40-60 fps in oblivion (outdoor areas).
I have everything maxed out. Are these frame rates normal? what sort of an improvement should i get with another gtx.?

What resolution are you playing at? Also, try OCing your E6600 to get rid of that bottleneck (maybe to 3 Ghz).

Mike.

1024 x 768.
I've OC'd my cpu to 2.8 @ 1.1v, but am not sure if I should go anymore with the intel stock fan. Where I live it's winter now and the cpu is idle at 27c, full load at 45c. Do you think I should try overclocking it to 3.0?

Yeah just OC your CPU. If your gonna buy another GTX make sure you have a bigger monitor (1680x1050 resolution or higher).

Man, you got the same setup as me.
Spend 25 on the cooler!

You can OC the crap out of that rig! No need for a second card.

You'd only see a large performance boost if you were playing 1900x1200+, OC THAT CPU

QFT. Dear god, 1024x768 with a 8800GTX?!?!? What a complete waste of a card. I can play Oblivion at 1680x1050 with 16xCSAA and 16xAF and I get about the same frame rates he is.

.Rain, you need a bigger monitor if you want to see what all the fuss is about with these 8800GTX cards They perform astonishingly well at high resolutions. You of course aren't seeing that with your small resolution. If you were to get another 8800GTX you would virtually see no performance increase at all at that resolution.

With the money you would spend on another gtx i would buy a better cooler overclock to 3 gig and buy a ws monitor instead.

exactly , no game really needs 2 GTX's at the minute , unless you play at very high resolutions

Thanks for the replies. I will consider getting a new monitor. Tried OCing the e6600 with the stock fan @1.2v, currently itīs at 2.6 idle temps are 25c-30c
I've tried going to 3.0 @1.25v, temps at 27-32 idle but got a failure test on orthos and windows crashes and the system reboots. Is this because my voltage is too low, does anyone recommend going this high on intel's stock fan?

i think stock voltage for a E6600 is 1.3v isnt it ?? (cant remember)

but the intel stock fan isnt that bad , but you could allways pick up a freezer 7 pro for peanuts which will give alot better temps
