Default How to configure Audigy 2 ZS in Vista for best music playback? - 02-12-2007, 16:48 | posts: 8 | Location: Brazil

Just following Robscix instruction, can anyone help on a quick guide to get the best audio playback in Vista? What should I enable or disable to get the best quality with music and general audio playback. In XP I used to get a very good audio quality, but now its a little distorted and with no bass... I have a set o Creative 2.1 speakers. I have the latest beta drivers installed.

Did you actually install drivers from Creatie Labs? or di Vista just install it's own drivers? If Creative has new drivers for Vista and you haven't installed them yet start there.

Yeah, I installed the Creative Vista beta drivers dated from Jan 12th 2007. Also, I set the audio quality in the Vista Sound properties to DVD (16-bits and 48Khz). I tried 24-bits and 96Khz, but it started to produce pops all the time.
Just a question, can I enable CMSS? Or is this only for surround or 5.1 speake systems? How to adjust bass and treble?

little details like Bass and treble I am unsure of becasue I ahven't used Vista as of yet. Annother poster said enabling CMSS helped him with a BASS issue. I would just say look through ALL the audio settings to figure out where everything is that you may want to use. I am unsure of the driver structure with CL's Vista drives. I am unsure if you still have your EQ or not have you checked? I am gonna try my freinds Vista laptop later this week or next so I can assist some people in Vista. Although I am not moving to it fully until I get my new PC.

Well, I have an X-FI and 5.1 speaker system with SPDIF passthru or analogue depending on how a feel

But for you I would use Winamp, with the audioburst plugin, set it to upmix to 192khz and thats it really. Also you could mess with the mixer and set it to a curve with all high on the left and right ( not max ) and a dip in the middle.

If you have a sub, then use the THX console to set the crossover and boost the bass by 15 ( little tick box ).
