Switching between clocks profiles...

With version .940 I use to OC my card to clock speeds 700/700 along with voltages increased to 1.40/2.20. Then I set up another profile with default clocks (500/500) and default voltages (1.10/1.90). After that I can use auto overclocking or manual oveclocking in games profiles without any problem.

With later versions it is not possible. Everytime I make the same procedure using low level overclocking (driver level doesn't work at all, it never even changes clock speeds), it fails while switching back to default clocks profile. It ends up with blue screens (sometimes with stripes over screen), sometimes black screens,...It si just the same behaviour like when you OC your card too much without increasing voltages.

So the only cause of it I can think of is that ATT somehow switches back only voltages or it switches them first and it results to corrupted screen. Another proof of it is that when I make two profiles using voltages not so different (e.g. 1.30/2.15 and 1.40/2.20) it switches between them without problem.

I'm always using the latest catalyst display driver (currently 6.12), I have DirectX 9.0c december upgrade, Windows XP Pro with SP2, ATi Hotkey Poller disabled... So I would like to ask you, Ray, if there is any chance you can prevent above mentioned issue in upcoming version of your great utility.

Thanks, sickie

I have no problem on my X1800 with profiles. ATT always checks what core speeds you try to set. If its more than current value, ATT first set new voltage and then set GPU speed and vice versa . If new GPU speed less than current, ATT first set GPU speed and then voltage.
Anyway, low level overclocking is not a perfect procedure for X1xxx video boards. So it can work on one hardware and fails on another. Say thanks to ATI for such painful overclocking methods

But this

is sounds strange for me. As I know I have delay in overclocking procedure after applying voltages so there are should be no difference between for example 1.3v-1.4v and 1.1v-1.4v

You know Ray, it really leaves me befuddled, too...

As I said, it is only matter of different versions. With 1.2.6.940 it works as intented. I install any beta or currently 1.2.6.964 and bang...it doesn't work. I reinstall .940 and everything is just fine again.

In those versions ATT is not changing clockspeeds as it should be (as you described how it logically works), I cant find another reason for behaviour I described in previous post.

So feel free to try to find out the way how to fix it. Until then, I have to stick with working version, but I would be really excited if you could somehow fix it so I could use latest versions.

Take care, sickie

Low level Overclocking procedure was improved after 940 version. But it seems for your board there are was no improvements
I can fix only BUGS not the behavior. I this will happened for me I will try to find whats wrong.
