Default Need Help - 10-31-2006, 11:52 | posts: 6

I have a ASUS P5AD2 DELUXE MB. I have a 3.6 P4 660 socket775 cpu. When I nstalled the cpu and started the system nothing happenens. It doesnt even post. When I put the old cpu 3.0 P4. thee system boots right up. I check the asus web site and the MB is compatible w/ 3.6 660 cpu. I hve tried 2 different 3.6 cpu's both w/ same problem. Although when i reinstalled the old cpu after trying the second 3.6, the bios did detect and show that there was a 3.6 processor installed at some point. But the system doesnt post w/ 3.6 cpu installed. Any sugestions?

Turn all power off, unplug cables, take out the Battery on the motherboard, wait 10 seconds plug back in, plug power in and boot up.

Also Try putting only one stick of ram in to see if it boots up.

Good day,

the pentium IV 660 is a newer generation P4, so your mainboard needs a bios update to support it. Try to update the mainboard with a newer bios using your current 3.0 ghz pentium 4, if there's a newer bios.

And don't forget to use fresh thermal paste on the new processor if you are re-using the cpu cooler.

Good luck!
