Is there a way to remove directx from your system so you can go back to a previous version of it? I didnt see it in add remove programs.

That you have got to elborate.
A DX7 card will run under DX9.0C just fine as DX...even if it is only DX7.

Well I updated from microsoft the other night. And today I got a new card ati x850 pro. And installed the latest drivers and the cat software I downloaded from ati's website. But when I load the catalyst and where it is supposed to show a window of a 3d image for you to adjust settings it wont load. I get a message saying directx error occured send info to microsoft as an error report. So I was wondering if it was the directx messing up. SO I thought I'd go back to the 9.0 that came on a cd of the flight sim I am running.

You might want to try using drivercleaner to clean the files (ATI Drivers) then install your new drivers for your x850 pro. I don't think it has to do with DirectX at all, I think it just can't initialise because of corrupt drivers.
