Well i have the money and now i want the camera but ive read some other posts about how i should buy the body only and get a different lens, so now im just plain confused. So far ive only really looked at the Nikon D50, seems nice and has gotten great reviews, should i buy the camera as a whole or just the body and get a lens? Some have suggested the body only and the D70 lens? I mean is the stock lens good enough for now seeing as im a complete newbie to camera's in general or is it worth it to invest in something better now?

Camera's im looking at atm;

Nikon D50 6.1 MP
OLYMPUS EVOLT E-500 8 MP
CANON D-REBEL XT 8 MP (used)
Fujifilm FinePix S9000 9MP
Pentax *ist DL 6.1 MP

The cheapest i can find is the Pentax or Fujifilm, rebel or d50 would be nice but id have to buy used unless i could find a sweet deal.

any help would be appreciated.

where abouts in the world are you? As in the UK the D50 price has dropped in the last few months so the body is £330, body + stock lens is about £390 (which is what i've got and the stock lens isn't bad). TBH no matter where you are in the world you'll probably get it cheaper than here in the UK

the s9000 isn't a full dslr its a bridge style so it looks like one you can change many settings on it but you become a little limited by what lens you can use. Either the Nikon or the Canon both are very good cameras imo.
