Really depends on the game but some performance can be picked up. I don't think you'll really notice much difference with that CPU/GPU combo you have.

its better to get Audigy 2 ZS then Audigy, it dont have EAX 4 and most games u need at least a Audigy 2 ZS Card.

It depends, but I know that with running onboard sometimes it makes a pretty big hit depending on the audio quality. As for the Audigy 2 ZS, I have to agree. It's a great card and more stable than old my Audigy 2 (no popping or other such annoyances).

On average onboard sound takes up 8-15% of your cpu cycles. Some games slightly more. Which if you are not oc'ing that opty(and you better be ) can give you a nice boost. But if you are at 2.4ghz or above don't expect anything dramatic.

no, not really. go with something in the 2 series or higher like the other poster said. They have the better dsp's and sound.

I you buy that Audigy, then your gonna have anice high powered system but your Audio subsystem will be seriously lacking. Get a Audigy 2 or above, if you cannot afford it right now then wait until you can. I would suggest you get a X-Fi, X_plosion or wait for the X-Purity to hit the streets. Cards of this calibre would be alot better for a PC of that calibre. Hope that helps.

Even for gaming a Audigy 2 will give you better sound than a Onboard and you will ahve th newer versions of EAX..So all in all your gaming experience will be better. You will get a boost small but still there..Hope that helps.
