What is the recommended way to install a new version of ATT when a previous version is already installed? Install over the old version, or uninstall the old version first? If I uninstall the old version, will my settings remain and be used in the new version?

You can install over existing version. Just exit from ATT before starting installation.

Hey, I've installed over old ATI drivers thrice now, however, I hadn't noticed a problem until updating today.

Apparently, drivers show up as an updated version in windows' property dialog, system information, and all that, but ATT detects the low level driver incorrectly. In fact, I found that it detects it as the version when I first installed the modded Omega drivers, as only the ATT bundled with that will run.

I WOULD uninstall and try again, however, I am unsure of how registry entries are handled by your installer, and I don't want to end up uninstalling the most recent version with the first version's installer.

So this question is two in one: Is each version of ATT independent, and will a reinstall fix this issue?

And yes, I exited ATT before each installation, had no ATI files in use during installation, accepted all non-WHQL error messages. And I have a 9600AIW (which shows up as XT or Pro for different software, oddly enough.)

EDIT: I just noticed something I didn't upon rebooting at the end of the installation (I guess this is what I get for using Win98 themes)
Apparently, there is an unknown device on my video card, for which Windows has no drivers. Yet, I can clearly see primary and secondary display adapaters installed (with the correct version) higher up on the list in device manager.

EDIT2: Scratch that, I think that's the TV in. I haven't installed WDM drivers yet.

EDIT3: I decided to try it anyway. Yes, separate installations are independent, and after uninstalling previous versions, it works now. I just couldn't wait, and decided to take some risks. =P
You can disregard this post now.

No. Low Level driver will be shared between them. But you can not use one driver for different versions! The way to use new version is. Install new version in same folder as previouse in Omega driver, or install in separate folder. Do not run ATT but run Low level driver installation util. Click on Stop and then Uninstall. Restart computer and run new version of ATT
