i thought nobody cared about 3dmark anymore?!
personally i don't give a damn anymore about 3Dmark as a benchmark
cause i don't play it and with all the drivers cheats for those it's becoming
annoying anyway, regardless of what the company or anybody says
it's still not 100% assuring to use this benchmark.

i will get it anyway just to see the eye candy and not to benchmark,
the best benchmarks are during REAL gameplay.

Well, the Advanced Version has a playable mini-game. You happy now. With all the complaining they are turning it into a game very slowly.

Hmmm I don't think I'm gonna download this on, my computer can barely run the 2005 edition. Maybe when I get a new computer then I'll d/l it just to check it out.

Omg, 3dmark is just trying to rake it in. Maybe they're in cahoots with M$.

Remember 2001 and 2003, that's a bit of time inbetween... now that M$'s directx is coming out with a new one or revision they keep making a new benchmark for some added feature.

directx 8 should have never been to 8.1

and directx9 should have never been to 9c

Dont' release a new directx unless it's done I say. I mean in the early directx days they released a new one every month it seemed. I went from 3 to 5, 6,7,8 and 8.1 in a span of a year or so.

Even if it turns into a game, i doubt you wanna run it at 1fps,
besides amazing graphics mean nothing if not backed up by
proper gameplay.
magazine reviews would say:
3dmark2006 feautures some pretty amazing graphics, unfortunately
the gameplay is so poor i'd rather watch paint dry.
lmao

I guess the Geforce 6 series cards have an advantage over the Radeon X600/X800 series. The reason I say this is because, 2 of the 4 game tests in 3DMark06 r based on SM3.0 which would mean that the X800/X600 series cards may not be able to run them at all or at a significant performance hit. It might be much closer though between the 7800GTX & X1800XT.

I have a hunch that a 6600GT/6800nu might be on par or maybe even score slightly more than an X800Pro/XT!!! I may be wrong though. I'am not claiming anything....just a thought.

SM3.0 existed in 3dmark2005 years ago, yet only a couple of REAL games
appeared with the support like Farcry and some other.
do you think developers will create a game that runs ONLY on sm3.0 cards?
that'd be pretty dumb and waste of money, they must cater for the low-end
users that don't have the money and pc to run the game in full glory.

3dmark is the devils software made so you cannot run it on your hardware
and go out and buy that new 3dcard, it's a marketing move imho.
i never bought a 3dcard because of 3dmark, i bought one when i couldn't
run my games the way i wanted, besides 3dmark never reflected the TRUE
performance i was getting in my games, poor 3dmark scores/ fast gameplay.
to hell with it.

Then on the other hand.....both the 6600GT & 6800nu AGP have only 128mb of vram. So I guess things might still work in favour of the ATI cards.

So much to comment about!
500$! Thats insane! Do all the big computer makers (Alienware, Voodoo, Falcon NW) buy it to see how they are doing?
Playable minigame! About damn time! Ive always wanted one to come with it.
Also, it says: Available Wednesday, Janurary 18. By my clock, its been wednesday for 19 minutes.
