Default eMule Low ID problem - 10-25-2005, 21:50 | posts: 640 | Location: Earth

I'm connected to the Net through a D-Link router. Can't connect eMule properly (Low Id, ports test fails). I forwarded ports, diabled firewall, assigned static IP none worked. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If your Port Test Fails, then it's not set up correctly.

Thanks for the source Mr. Finch. I tried everything on that site then I fiddled with the router settings finally I was able to connect eMule without penalty however, it happened only after I setup the connection in DMZ which left my PC pretty much vulnerable to everything. How's bittorent in terms of network compatability? Maybe I should switch to that one.

Bittorrent is much like P2P, each person shares parts of the file, and solely depends on them uploading it.

They use TCP ports 6881+, more connections you make, you add a port number, 6881, 6882, 6883 etc.

Usually 10 or so will be sufficient.

if your router suppors upnp you can use a client like utorrent which will automatically make your router open the ports it needs while bittorrent is running.

Low ID happened with my LinkSys ADSL2 modem,
unfortunately NAT cannot be turned off and i dont have any DMZ, so i exchanged my ADSL modem at the shop with a D-LINK DSL-210 plain modem with no ethernet or anything,
a good software firewall (currently OUTPOST PRO) will do the trick for me.

didn't have a problem since.

had fun reading here, just in case in the future i get a router, now i know how to setup the thing.

glad u solved the problem btw.

Isn't it also a matter of the ISP?

Not really... Just make sure the port fowarding works as with any app and then connect to a good server...
