i am having a swtich with 8 ports which is connected to a router(D-Link 500G) which connect us all to the DSL ..

so the question is , can anyone connect to the switch to share with files but dont access to the net , can this happenes and how??

I'm sure you can if you want.

In your Router try and restrict MAC address's that can get onto the net.

But you can connect to the switch and share files amongst people.

You could always assign static IP address's to all the machines, and only put in DNS address for the ones that get on the net.

You'll just need to type the IP of the computer your trying to share files with.

eg.

\\IP\Sharename

The above is accurate except you won't really have to do the manual UNC entries. Netbios will still be functioning so you can still rely on My network places if that is what you are used to.
