Default softfire on Laptop - 02-06-2005, 02:34 | posts: 2

Wow this is great!

I've got an inspiron 8600 and patched up the unified drivers to a T2. Almost everything works, except for the fact that the latpop has a native 1900x1200 and the drivers seem to think its 1600x1200 since that's all that shows on the screen and the rest just scrolls!

I know that the ATI drivers aren't meant to install on a laptop, so I tried to use the HP drivers and those will install and run fine but just as a Radeon 9600 since the patch doesn't work.

A clue might be that the ATI panel doesn't seem to recognize any laptop panel, usually I have 4 choices, monitor, laptop, TV, FDI. But with the patch there is no laptop (maybe that is a function of the ATI drivers?)

hi! i own an inspiron 8600 too, and i cannot patch new 8.62 driver... i picked up they from ibm and i think is the best solution, because the hp's aren't able to be modified. now i use wuth success the freefiregl 8x00 (the only that works, but i wanna try with newer ones). i understood that we have to patch the rt script with a misterious sequence in machine code, but wich is the right one for the card we have. we have to help togheter. contact me, please for your next results!

tanks a lot by an italian architect...

Do you have the 1900x1200 WUXSGA panel on it? I can patch the IBM ones but they do not allow me to get the full width of the screen since apparently no IBMs have the WUXSGA panels, they just have 1600x1200.
