The DMA-Settings of your drive are wrong, if U mean the HDD.
Do the settings manualy, containing the sectors and cylinders of your drive
and set the DMA-Mode to 4
It should have DMA 4. Try to disable settings like 2. and 3. Bootdevice.
And disable the feature "try other boot-devices", too.
So that only one Boot-Device is set and your rig is not allowed to look up for other devices to boot from. Hope that works!

bootvis helped me alot it went from 1 minute to 40 secs and after choosing udma6 for the hdd (it was at udma5) it went to 35 secs. just use bootvis then set the dma settings and make the hdd the only 1 boot device.

manu, is there a disk in the DVD drive?
Everytime I have a disk in the DVD drive windows always takes awhile to startup, this corrects it for me. Only hangs when windows is loading no other time, remove the disk and boots in 30sec.

Manu,

How are the jumper settings on that DVD drive? My experience suggests your BIOS might be having a difficult time recognizing the DVD. Try making the DVD a master on one of the IDE channels (even on the primary channel should work OK).
